Little Miss big mouth - part 1

Once upon a time there lived a girl ,a small girl who thought too much about the world and her life . she was often mocked for her adult like serious talks , she often philosophised about humanity, wealth and human behavior that people called her Miss big mouth.

At the age of fifteen, Erika or Miss big mouth decided that staying in her village was serving her no purpose. She needed a bigger venue ,an audience that understood her, who listened to her , a more important place where her voice can reach to all corners of the society.

She decided that she was far too important to be just a daughter of a priest . Yes, it was time to leave.

Erika asked her papa for permission to visit her Aunt's house in London. Her father happily agreed for a little quietness in the house which her absence will bring. Hence this was much welcoming to him and his wife ,Erika's mother .

Erika happily packed her belongings, all of them till her mother came to check on her items. She was shocked to see the room almost empty except for the furnitures .

" Erika, why have you packed all your belongings? "-  asked her mother
" Mama, I'm leaving, I need these for my stay there"- said Erika
Her mother usually never argued back with Erika, for she always had a fitting reply to win any argument.
Dismissing this as one of Erika's eccentricity, her mother  left the room shaking her head.

Erika didn't have much to pack . Unlike other teenagers, she didn't have any friends or hobbies, her companions were books and like all bookworms, she loved the leathery smell of old books. She had just 5 pairs of clothes and 1 pair each of shoes and sleepwear. The largest item in her suitcase was a box containing all the letters that she received to her pen friend Mr Smith Walter  which were her proud possession. Mr Smith lived in London, her planned visit to London was secretly an adventure to find and finally meet Mr smith . She admired him and was essentially her mentor and adviser. They shared the same views of humanity and the world in general.
It all started when Erika was ten. She decided to write a letter to her Majesty, the Queen of England expressing her disgust for the inhuman treatment of labourers in her village. She wasnt sure of the address so she asked the mailman for her majesty's address. The mailman was a friendly old chap , he was kind and often listened to erika's big fierce dialogs with patience. She told him her peril and asked  him for her Majesty's mailing address. He gave her a helpless look and said he will check with his friends and get back to her. Erika waited patiently but after two weeks of not seeing the mailman, She decided to go to the post office herself and get the address.

" Good afternoon , I'm searching for Mr pitts, the mailman" - She told the clerk in the post office
"He's out on delivery Miss"- came the response
"Well Sir, Actually I'm looking for the mail address of the Queen of England, there is an important message I need to sent her and Mr Pitts promised that he will check in the post office and give me the add"- Erika said as confidently as possible.
The clerk smirked and said" Oh ! Did he? Well I'm sorry miss, we dont have her address"
But Erika persisted, she wasnt going to get back without the address. She insisted that there must be someone in the office who knows and that the clerk wasnt helping her.
"Please Sir, if you could just ask around , I'm sure someone will know, You dont understand how important this letter is , I have to urgently pass on the information"- erika pleaded
The clerk tried to reason with her ,he couldnt. He tried telling her that he had other work to do, but it was an unusual day, the postoffice was literally empty and he didnt have any work to do, So he looked around, called his buddies and decided to have some fun. It wasnt everyday that a ten year old kid walks in asking for the Queen's mailing address.

" Hey Dick,Pete,Johnny, fellas ,come here!"- he called out to his colleagues
"Young lady here, says she's a friend of Pitts, is looking for the Queen of England's mailing address"
They gathered around her and he whispered something to them

"Hey why are you whispering Mr, Let me also hear"- Erika started at the Clerk.

" Oh dear, Sorry Miss, I was just telling my colleagues the urgency of your matter and how important it is"- the clerk told her with utmost politeness.
" Why yes, its very important that I pass on the information"- Erika said.

The men continued to huddle and whisper . After a minute or two, they let out a small laugh and looked at Erika with a serious face.

" Miss, We have discussed and we agree that your matter is very important"- Said one of the employees. " In fact, we will tell you that we are a secret service ourselves who personally deliver to her Majesty"

"Oh is it?"- Erika asked, she was skeptical ." I havent heard of such a service..."

" Well that is why it is a secret service dear" - Another clerk said. " Look here, the majesty does not take letters from the public mailman. Its always us, the personal service members who deliver her the letters. We really think you look like a respectable young lady with a genuine information. That is why we.. we revealed ourselves to you "

Erika was flattered. Its not everyday that she gets called as Respectable . Oh mine, what an honour!, she thought.

Without further ado, she shook hands with the secret service members and held out a letter and asked them to mail it to the Queen.

" But how will I know that the Queen has received my letters and how will i receive her reply" - she asked intelligently to which the men huddled again.

" Well miss, you will just have to come here to collect them"- Said a clerk.

Happily Erika handed out the letter and walked out of the post office feeling proud of herself.

As she went out one of the clerks called out and said " and remember, this is a sercret service, you are not to tell anyone about this , are we clear?"

"Yes sir!"- replied Erika courteously and proceeded to zip her lips with her fingers. " Not a word to anyone"

Erika couldnt sleep that night. What was the majesty going to reply. How popular was she going to be. She couldnt imagine her luck of bumping into the secret society that personally delivers mails to the Queen.

As she looked out her window , she saw twinkling starts, one of them didnt blink, she wondered why....and slowly she slept off..
